On My Wishlist (27)

In On My Wishlist I spotlight books that I'm really looking forward to. I know there's a meme Waiting on Wednesday and there even are others, but I'm going to rebel and do it how I want it (hehe). I'll feature the synopsis as posted on Goodreads and put a linkie to the Goodreads page of the book. This week: The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
Expected publication date: April 24th, 2012

Synopsis
In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.

Goodreads page

Just when you think you can't read any original vampire stories anymore, because just about everything has been written, Julie Kagawa combines vampires with a dystopian future. Holy smoke, how can that NOT be awesome?! Kagawa is a brilliant story teller, as we all know if you have read The Iron Fey series, and I simply cannot wait for this book to come out. Is it April yet??

  1. Even if the summary didn't sound absolutely awesome, I'd probably pick it up just because I loooove her writing style. Can't wait to get a copy of this. :)

  2. Even combining vampires with a dystopian future has been done before: I Am Legend! This one still sounds neat, though.
