[Get Read-y] First Check-in

In December we get read-y for 2012! We read away those review copies, or those 2011 titles that we still haven't read so we can have a nice and clean start for the New Year! With so many amazing titles coming out in 2012, you might be a little overwhelmed with the amount of books to read.. But fear not! Get Read-y is here to help you lower your TBR pile :) For the introduction post with all information, click here!

We're almost a week into December, so it's time for the first check-in! How did you do so far? Did you manage to read something from your TBR pile? Or maybe it's not going so well so far? Please share your experiences in the comments, so we can cheer eachother on!

For me personally, I'm still trying to shake NaNo off. I haven't been able to read as much as I liked in November (only 2 books) and I'm still struggling to get back into the reading mood, although I did pretty good.

Since December 1st I managed to finish 2 books, one of them for review (Partials by Dan Wells), and I read Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon :) So I guess I did pretty good for one week! But I have to admit and tell you guys.. I cheated. I read a book that I didn't get for review *ducks and runs for cover* I read the second book in the Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins because I really really liked the first book. And I finished the sequel within a couple of hours.. Hah. But yeah, I should probably try and read review books instead.. But two books in one week is pretty good considering November was incredibly slow!

So did your first week go? Tell me all about it! *nosy girl is nosy*

  1. I managed to read 1 novella and half of this other book. :D I'm hoping to read more but since Uni work has been rolling in. It's been difficult! I'm waiting for Winter Break to finish at least half of my 32 eBooks I'll be reading. Thanks for putting this up! Its getting me all motivated!

  2. Terrible! Reading a non-review book! You should be ashamed of yourself. I've never heard of the Underland series so please tell all so I can also break my challenge! :-)

I've read 2 books so far and reviewed 3. I also updated my review tab on my blog that has links to all my reviews. Not bad for one week.

  4. I'm doing terrible. I'm in the middle of a review book but it's not keeping my interest. :-( Since I asked for it, I want to hurry up and get it over with. Hopefully I'll have two more ARCs read before next week's check-in.

  6. I managed to read and review one book: The Wheel Spins by Ethel White. I am happy because it had long been on my wishlist and also because I managed to complete the vintage mystery challenge with that one.

Alongside finished reading another vintage mystery: The Circular Staircase that I had been reading for l-o-n-g.

Currently reading The Survivor by Sean Slater, a book that I won by taking part in a challenge.

  7. So far I've read 4 books in December that were really destined for the Challenge.

    1. In the Teeth of the Evidence by Dorothy L Sayers (12/4/11)
    2. The Habit of Widowhood by Robert Barnard (12/4/11)
    3. The Club Dumas by Arturo Pérez-Reverte (12/5/11)
    4. Electric City by K. K. Beck (12/6/11)

That's about 1/5 of what needs to be done by the end of the month....better go read some more. :-)

Currently reading More Holmes for the Holidays a collection of Sherlock Holmes pastiches with a Christmas theme.

  8. I did pretty well! I finsihed Prized by Caragh O'Brien, Mist by Kathryn James, Liesl and Po by Lauren Oliver and Sweetly by Jackson Pearce. I then broke things up by reading a book from netgalley just for fun and now I'm reading Tempest Rising by Tracey Deebs. So well on my way towards clearing my pile of '11 review books! Still six books on my pile to read, but I might just read one more and then dive into some '12 reads. Because I can.

  9. Wow you guys are doing great! Wish I was doing as well as you!! Keep up the good work!

@Euthaliawings; review books are books that you get from publishers/authors to review on your blog :) Or books you request from Netgalley!

  10. Hey, I am just joining in. Started off December with the worst sore throat I think I have ever had, I was ready to take _anything_ to kill the pain. Not strep just a really bad infection. AnyWHO-will be joining you now, just need to get the act together.

You know, I have not read the Underland Chronicles yet, but need to! Again the list grows.

Thanks for give the push to years end. Happy Reading!

  11. I've been a bit slow this week, I have to say. The bookshop's been deadly (perfect reading time!) but instead I seem to get swept up playing online and wasting time that way instead. Must do better!

I've finished two books this week, but one was read entirely on a whim so it doesn't really count. I did, however, finish 'Atonement' for my TBR Challenge, so I'm quite pleased about that! I adored it and am hoping to finish my review today. I find it so hard to review complex books I really loved, but I'm giving it a good go... :)
