So far, so good. Only lately (use this term lightly please), I've been reading a lot of my new books. I love to read on my Kindle, so there are no books on my shelves that actually get read. I also read books that I got in semi-recently. The result is that I have a lot of books that I was once ridiculously excited for, but are now still unread on my shelves. And it's getting out of hand. So I figured I'd give myself a little social pressure by telling you guys that I'm going to make a dent in that they-always-stay-on-my-shelves-waiting-to-be-read-pile.
This is the cube of books that holds the books that I was so excited for months ago and are still unread (classics are exception, I only acquired those recently). I even gave them a special cube in my book closet so I could clearly see them when I looked at my books. No luck, I still haven't picked them up. I need peer pressure!
The ten books below (and in the picture) are books that I want to finish before 2012 starts. That gives me 4 months, which may be even a little long to accomplish a goal like this, but I already tried to let them get my attention and failed months ago. SO. I have until December 31st, 2011 to finish the following books:
- Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
- Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves
- Fallen by Lauren Kate
- Lament by Maggie Stiefvater
- My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent
- Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
- Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong
- Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn
- Wings by Aprilynne Pike
I can do this. It's doable. I can do this. I can.. Hey, what's that pretty cover over there?! *snaps out of it* See why I need you guys to be able to do this? I'll try to do a little thingie in my wrap up posts from now on to show if I actually made progress in this Personal Reading Goal. Wish me luck!
Do you have any books that you were dying to read and yet.. they are still unread now you've had the book for days/weeks/months/years?
Let me think ... I guess you could (almost) call some of the books on my TBR piles ANTIQUES that's how long I own them already ... yep, I'm a book hoarder with too little time *sigh*.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I think you can do it! Ten books can easily be read in four months. Just don't let other books or bookstores distract you ;-) !
Antiques? Wow, that's old! Do you think you'll ever get round to reading those?
ReplyDeleteYeah 10 books is doable, I'm sure I can do it as long as I don't get distracted by all the other pretties around. I have quite a few review galleys that I have to read and then I want to read some 'new' books as well.. LOADS of reading! Ha! And thanks for the heads up! <3
How many books do you buy a month, do you think? I'm just curious!
ReplyDeleteYou'll love Between Shades of Gray. It's one of the best books I've read this year.
Hmm.. Good question. Last month and this month it must have been almost 20 books o.O I'm toning it down now anyway because I'm trying to get through all the galleys, but I do have a habit to buy too many books. Book sales are only enabling my buying xD
ReplyDelete20's not too bad! It always seems like you buy 40+ xD
ReplyDeleteYeah the galleys really do mount up quickly!
Haha yeah I've had months in which I ordered a ton more.. Or just bought a lot more books because there was a book fair.. But still, 20 is a lot! Especially when you don't read 20 books every month *stares at pretty books still unread on shelves*
ReplyDeleteLately I've been getting a ton of galleys in as well so that makes my IMM massive! xD
(I have to admit that I've placed a ton of preorders lately... That adds up too. But hey, I can still cancel them! :P)
