NaNoWriMo 2010

Maybe you've already noticed that I've placed a widget of NaNoWriMo 2010 on my right side bar, saying that I'm participating in NaNo 2010. I've signed up late, but I'm still writing and to be honest, I never thought I would still be writing!

According to the NaNo stats thingie on my profile, I'm 13,000 words behind on schedule and my story will be finished on December 23th - finished as in, 50,000 words written. The challenge is to write 50,000 words in one month and I can assure you that that is a lot! I've only written short stories so far, but I get bored easily so I'm really proud of myself that I've made it so far.

My story is about a girl who discovers that she is not fully human. I'm not telling any more things about the story than that now haha. I'm hoping I can set up a rough draft in November and then work on it to get it to a proper book in the upcoming months. NaNo allows me to write crap and ridiculous plot turns in my story without being distracted, and the sprints I've joined in allowed me to include some plot twists that sounded ridiculous at first, but worked out perfectly later on in the story.

I'm 20,000 words into the story now and I'm wondering how I should continue. I won't even try to put everything I want to happen into one "book", because I think it's too much to include in the first story. Yes, I'm already thinking about writing a second book after this. I hope I will make it through the month and win the NaNo this year. It's my first time, but hey, I want to win right away!

Are any of you participating in NaNoWriMo 2010?

  1. I'm doing NaNo this year, too. I actually finished my book on Nov. 20--just over 50,000 words. I didn't think I was going to be able to to do it!

Good luck with your book! It sounds like it's going to be interesting. :)
